ISRAEL – The Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv denied allegations that they were involved in the ‘lewd’ Christmas party organized by Overseas Filipino groups.
“The Embassy had no hand in that Filipino Community event, and calls on everyone to assist in stopping the spread of fake news that may have a detrimental effect on the image of Filipinos in Israel,” says Ambassador Nathaniel Imperial.
The party that participated male erotic dancers was held in Haifa, just about an hour drive to Tel Aviv, the located of the embassy.
The statement was issued by Imperial after several photos from the party went viral on Facebook. One photo showed a half-naked Caucasian male dancing in front of a Filipina.
The photos were first posted by a certain Nino Ruelo Barzaga on his Facebook account, dragging the Philippine Embassy into the issue. He asked why they allowed these kinds of activities to happen.
Netizens were quick to leave their comments, some saying that it was “bastos” and “malaswa”, while others are saying that this should impact in the image of Filipinas all over the world.
Imperial cleared the involvement of the Philippine Embassy stating that though there are embassy representative in the party, they “were unaware that the performance was part of the program, and left when the performances started.”
“The Embassy later called the attention of the organizers about the inappropriateness of the show, and has asked them to provide an explanation in writing,” he added.
Complaints from Filipinos who attended the party were also pouring, says Imperial.
“We are taking action on those complaints now,” he said.
The photos which was posted last January 1, now has 2,338 shares.
