A huge number of people are starting to get interested with the newly-launched Overseas Filipino Bank (OF Bank) in the Philippines which will soon have branches abroad for countries like Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Bahrain.
It can be recalled that President Duterte promised to establish an OFW bank during his campaign and in less than two years in position, he was able to fulfil his promise.
The OFW bank is set to cater the banking needs of Overseas Filipino Workers including those immigrants and Filipinos who already have residence visas.
Moreover, Silvestre Bello III of DOLE announced that Filipinos working in Abu Dhabi and Dubai will no longer have to fly to the Philippines to open an account in the OFW bank because they are set to open international branches soon.
“We urge our fellowmen abroad to watch out for the opening of OF Bank branches there in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain in February or March,” says Bello.
“The international branches will be launched in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs. Those branches are only the initial ones. Eventually, all the countries in the Middle East where there is a heavy concentration of OFWs will have representative branches,” he further said.
Opening an account at the OF Bank is fast and easy. Applicants can simply go their preferred branch and present valid IDs. After that, they can now proceed with the transaction.
Applications for online banking will soon be available as well as the website of the bank.
For now, applicants can apply for an account in their Manila branch but local branches will also be available soon like in the cities of Iloilo, Cebu, Legazpi, Cagayan de Oro and other cities throughout the Philippines.
